In Loving Memory of Barton R. Humlhanz
Barton Russell Humlhanz was born February 26, 1981 in Doylestown, PA. Bart's nickname to his family was B.R. He was a big brother to his sister Nicole. Bart was 11 when he became part of the Carey family adding a step brother Benjamin. Bart attended schools in the Central Bucks School District, Doylestown, PA, Centennial School District, Warminster, PA, and was a graduate of Saucon Valley High School, Hellertown, PA. Bart joined the Marines 15 NOV 2001, because of 9/11, with an MOS of Military Police. Bart received his first meritorious promotion to Private First Class May 2002 and also received Marine Of The Quarter Honors at Camp Lejeune in the fall of 2002. Bart's second meritorious promotion, to Corporal, came in June 2004. Having a difficult last name to pronounce, his Marine buddies called him "Hanz". Bart was killed 26 AUG 04 during his second deployment in Iraq as a result of an IED during security operations. Personal awards, medals, and ribbons include: Purple Heart, Navy Marine Corps Achievement, Combat Action, Good Conduct, National Defense, Iraq Campaign, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary, Global War On Terrorism Service, Sea Service Deployment, Expert Rifle and Marksman Pistol. Gold Star Fathers of Florida was founded in loving memory of Bart. As we always told Bart: "We love you, we miss you, and we are so proud of you".
